Be it matt jones, mike williams or whoever shows the most promise. I even hear some of you s screaming to cut northcut after having a great year with us. Show some loyalty **** it. If matt jones has a good training camp then I say keep him. Mike Williams has yet to play a down in the nfl so I don't know where all of this "superstar" stuff came from.

Yahoo Sports says that the Jags drafting Harvey was the 4th worst move of the NFL offseason.

Jaguars signed OT Richard Collier to an undisclosed extension.
The Jags have brought Collier along as a developmental tackle. At 6'7/360, he is certainly imposing. Collier appeared in four games and started one last year.

Jaguars WR Mike Walker (knee), TE George Wrighster (shoulder), TE Marcedes Lewis (knee), and TE Greg Estandia were held out of practice Tuesday.

Coach Jack Del Rio still expects all to be ready for training camp. No surgery for Lewis was ever reported, but he'll be someone to keep an eye on. We wouldn't expect a major leap statistically, but he can be a rock solid TE2. Walker's role is uncertain for now. Wrighster may be on the bubble.

Brian Smith - DL - Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars 2007 fourth-round pick Brian Smith still isn't fully recovered from the broken hip he suffered as a college senior.
He spent last year on injured reserve and is likely on the roster bubble heading to camp. Smith, who set a Mizzou record for career sacks, has shed weight and is down to 235. Perhaps the Jags now view him as a linebacker.

On NFL.com, I was browsing through some of the old video archives. I came across some games back in 05, that was our playoff run. All I could say was, wow, we have really come a long way. I know some of you bash the Jags left and right, but if you sat and watched us play then, it was downright awful.

Three and outs, were plentiful through out that season, as well as failed short yardage first downs. I can't help but think the combo of Jack&Shack have done wonders for this team. From a team that had no OFFENSIVE whatsoever, to a team, that was explosive, is pretty impressive. Anyway, just figured I'd share my :2cents:

Jaguar defense built to stop Colt offense

I was thinking about why Jacksonville would bring in another big dollar cornerback when they had two guys making pretty good money already.

The Jaguars have compiled a secondary strong enough to stop the Colts passing attack. They have also taken great strides to improve the pass rush which itself makes the secondary even more effective.

Indianapolis thrives off of being versatile from a spread formation. They can throw three wides out there and simply run the ball on any given down. This is tough to beat because the defense gets spread out and caught leaning the wrong direction.

When the Colts throw Harrison, Wayne, Gonzalez and Clark out there with Addai in the backfield any defense will almost always be presented with bad matchups.

The Jaguars have addressed this glaring deficiency by investing a lot of money in good cornerbacks and drafting a 1st round safety. Mathis, Florence, Williams and Nelson can cover Harrison, Wayne, Gonzalez and Clark without presenting any glaring match up issues. When you factor in the strength of the Jacksonville defensive line to the equation.....you've got the recipe for stopping the Indianapolis Colts. Peyton will start trying to do too much, he'll start pressing...and end up throwing picks under pressure.

I can envision Jacksonville playing a lot more nickel next year even considering the incredible depth they have at linebacker.

I was looking for an article on if Fudge was finishing his degree at UNF or back at Clemson and I found this article with a quote from Brian Williams. No matter what happens, no one can argue that he is showing a great attitude. Some players these days would be crying in the media and good for B-Dub for doing it the right way. :)

Watching the Del Rio press conference on the front page he mentioned his father telling him and his brother to move a mound of gravel from one side of the yard to the other and to take it one shovel at a time and to chip away at it.

Lets hope they dont bring a mound of gravel in the locker room, and if they do Adam Podlesh should be on the lookout for any flying shovels near his leg.

I watched the Jerry Porter interview that was uploaded earlier today and the more I sit around and think back to it, I can't help but get excited to see what he is going to do here in Jacksonville.

His attitude is great and the persona he is showing so far is making my expectations so high, I really think he is going to break out here in Jacksonville.

I'm thinking of buying Jaguar tickets for their away game at Cinncinatti this year since I can't go to Pittsburgh because they play at Duval, so this is the next best thing. Anyone else going to this game?

* Mike Walker was the fourth receiver selected on the first day by the Jaguars in franchise history, joining R. Jay Soward (2000), Reggie Williams (2004) and Matt Jones (2005).

* Reggie Williams is the highest drafted receiver in team history as he was ninth overall pick in 2004 draft.

* Matt Jones was a QB in college, and is now the most hated WR by most Jaguar fans on the message board.

* John Broussard had a diving 47 yard TD from David Garrard last year that made highlight clips.

* Dennis Northcutt a former Brown player, thought to be our great hope at WR last year.

If Derrick Harvey Had a 8-10 sack solid season and Jason Taylor fell into obscurity. Not trying to knock Taylor but it would be nice to throw that in the face of all the journalists that got mad because the Jags didn't give a 1st round pick for a 34 year old DE.

Paul Spicer not attending OTA's

Not sure of the reason by Spice but he will not be at OTA's. It's being reported by 1010XL that Del Rio said he would like for him to be there.

With the recent draft, and his age it would more than likely behoove Spice to be at this kind of thing. Whether it be a contract issue, etc. he should probably attend.

Honestly after looking over the schedule, I could see us ending up at 14-2. Anything could happen though so I'll give or take a couple wins/loses, and say we'll end up at 12-4.

We will win the division and we'll be the number 2 seed of the AFC behind the Patriots. Meet the Patriots in the championship game and beat them, and then beat either Minnesota or Dallas in the Super bowl and win.

I'm really intrigued to see how our defense plays against Cleveland and Minnesota (also how their defense plays against us). This year is going to be a crazy year, I can already tell.

I'm rooting for M. Walker and J. Broussard to make the team.

More important, I'm hoping one of them will be an impact player for us.

I know people think Broussard is too small to play in the NFL. But he doesn't have to be an every down type player. Every time I think of Broussard - I think of that beautiful TD bomb he caught against the Titans. I hadn't seen the Jags make that kind of play since - Jimmy Smith. He's fast and he catches the ball - don't tell me there's not a spot for a guy like that on our team.

As for Walker, we've seen what he did in college. Those who saw him in training camp last year came away impressed. The Jags put him on IR last year - surely he figures in their plans this year.

I want to see these two guy succeed because we drafted them, and any time your draft picks have an impact, that says a lot about your front office. Also, if this team is to continue to be successful in the long run, we need to develop young players now. Walker and Broussard fit that bill.

I hope this is their time.

I was watching the NFL network's replay of the 2002 Steelers\Browns playoff game. Another in a long list of heartbreaking loses for the Browns. For information on the game you can go here.

When the Jaguars signed DN there were many a Browns fan who noted that DN has dropped balls at bad times and hence he is unreliable. I haven't watch DN's career. In truth, it seems that there are but a handful of WRs who actually can be considered reliable in the clutch and in turn it seems unfair to marginalize a players impact as such. Still, in this game the irony was palpable and harkened to our loss to NE last year.

DN's stats for the game stood out. 6-92 w\2 TDs. (Kevin Johnson had a sick 4-140 with the big catch being an 83 yarder early in the game.) DN also had 2 punt returns for a total of 70 yards, with one return leading to a score.

But when the Browns needed it most, DN was not there. On a 3rd and 12, late in the 4th qtr and needing a 1st down to run the clock out, Holcomb placed a beautiful ball just over the defender and DN simply dropped it.

For those who focus on one play it was this drop that sealed the fate of the Browns. Ignore that the defense couldn't stop Maddox. Ignore that Andre King couldn't get out of bounds or that the pass didn't lead King enough to get out of bounds. Ignore that William Green ran like a scared child (see the 1st down run on the drive where DN dropped the pass...if Green cuts left instead of stopping he has 8 yards easy.)

To DN's credit he manned up and said he dropped it. If DN doesn't play like he does the Browns probably aren't even in the game. Well, maybe someone steps up but we could if ourselves to death. My point is that it was haunting to watch. Yes the NE catch was one in which DN was vulnerable and this one was a wide open drop, but it did validate the comments from Browns fan.

My opinion of DN is a positive one. I don't define him only by his drops any more than I define him only by his catches. I think he is a valuable component to this team as he was valuable to the Browns. He may not be a star but I have seen him make clutch plays. As far as I know there are Browns games in which he did make that late game catch. DN is a victim of timing and the "one play" mentality. That too is ironic.
