1) G - I'm feeling Duke Robinson here, he's a great G and if we plug him in at RG with Vince at LG we'd have great G's, we'd still have Naeole and Uche as the backups. and Mo Williams can move to LT if we don't resign Barnes (which I hope we do...) when fully healthy we'd have a beastly offensive line and also coming back from injuries Mo Williams is 30 and Manuwai is 28 I beleive so we need to get some new guys in on the Oline IMO so we can stay competitive for years to come and help boost our Running Game.

2) DT - I'm feeling Fili Moali if he somehow slides to the second or Sen'Derrick Marks. they'd be a steal in the second! and IMO we need a big guy next to Henderson on that line to help stuff the run and collapse the pocket to make sweeping up sacks and getting pressure easier on our DE's.

3) C/LB - If Antoine Caldwell is available I say we snatch him up providing Miller isn't the answer I think he is. If not then we can go LB here if Mike Pete moves on or retires... If we move Daryl Smith to the middle, Durant to the WLB (he's best there IMO) and Clint to the Strongside. we can draft the BA LB IMO. and just see how he works out.

4) SS/CB - we need a quality DB for depth in the secondary since after Starks we have Will James... we can groom him up to take on a starting role somewhere down the line and at the worst he'll be quality depth.

5) QB - I REALLY like Chase Daniel and Graham Harrell as developmental projects! If we can get Chase here I'd be ecstatic since he's predicted to slide due to his height and size despite of the numbers he puts up and his scrambling is good as well. Graham would be ok IMO... he seems like a Colt Brennan type thats a product of the system that with some coaching could get really good since his pass happy system already has his confidence up. (If neither are available I condone getting an OLineman

6) WR - as Vic says "WR's are a dime a dozen" so I'm sure we can find a speed guy/deep threat here since round 6 picks tend not to make it anyway at worst he'll be a PS guy. we could draft another Olineman, Dlineman or CB as well but I think WR quality tends to not fade as much the deeper in the draft you go from rounds 4-7 they're all relatively comparable while a DT would definitely be different.

Clearly the Jags misfortunes this year could translate into an excellent draft position allowing the team to upgrade their talent base at a number of positions.

I like Caldwell in the first round, still like a WR like Kelly (Clemson) second round, the big guy from Oregon (OT/OG...Fatupu or whatever his name is) maybe third round and after that I'm not sure.

DT Scott from Clemson could fall to fourth round maybe, maybe a LB like Jasper Brinkley from S. Carolina in the fifth and maybe another OL in the sixth?

I dunno. Who's Southern Cal gonna have left?

IMO...we address the Defense early....if Cushing is available I think he's the pick, we'll likely move Smith to the MLB spot and I don't think Ingram is a quality OLB starter...

Jerry would be an outstanding pick in the second round and Caldwell could start if he wanted to.

So much depends on how he weighs in at the combine. He can't pull a Lawrence Timmons and come in 2 inches and 15 lbs lower than scouts thought. If anything, he needs to pull a Derrick Harvey and weight in 10 pounds heavier than people thought. I think that is the biggest thing holding him back. It's not his ability, it's his size. I haven't been up close to Everette to gauge his height/weight like I could with LT (it was obvious LT wasn't 6'3'' 240 when you stand next to him).

He plays the run just as effectively as the pass. The ONLY concern for me is his weight. I want him at 260 when the combine rolls around.

First of all, EVERYBODY has an opinion on where players fall in THEIR rankings. Personally, I think that Moala is a Rd 2 selection, but it only takes one team out of 32 to make him a Rd 1 selection.

Pannel Egboh is also very very good. Another 34 end / 5-tech type. Greg Middleton is also good. Love the way Eric Norwood plays. He'll find a spot in the pros. Everette Brown is a good collegiate player, but like all FSU DE's...probably more of a LB, he is a "we'll see" type for me. Needs to go to the right team to succeed.

In my mind the team needs to concentrate on both lines, starting with another DE because they are so hard to find. Then in the 2nd and 3rd rounds the Jags need to look at DT and the BA Olineman.

I don't think that Herman Johnson will be a Rd 1 selection, while I feel reasonably confident that Duke Robinson will be a Top 20 pick.

I say Duke Robinson is around No. 17, while Herman Johnson is around 45 in terms of where they will be drafted.

To be honest...I wouldn't take an FSU DE.

I get flashes of Reinard Wilson, Jamal Reynolds, Tony Bryant and Andre Wadsworth far too often.

Only good ones were Peter Boulware (moved to LB in the pros) and Orpheus Roye (late round pick as a 34 end). Greg Spires hasn't been a bad pro by any means...just not great, but he was more of a mid-round pick anyway.

Alas....I'd stay away from FSU DEs.

Bookend to Derrick Harvey. He appears to have the frame to add another 20 lbs and keep his speed. He could be the most talented FSU DE since Peter Bouleware.

Rd 2(58): Peria Jerry - DT - Mississippi - 6'3" 295 Lbs 4.98/40

Distruptive force in the pass rush who can also hold the point against the run. Solid contributor in DT rotation.

Rd 3(90): Dannel Ellerbe - LB - Georgia - 6'1" 236 Lbs 4.63/40

Has been injured since the Bama game. So far there is not a timetable for his return. With an influx of juniors entering the draft, I think Ellerbe falls to the end of Rd 3 and offers a bargain to the Jags at this pick.

Rd 4(122): Troy Kropog - OLT - Tulane - 6'6" 298 Lbs 4.90/40

Very good pass blocker that will provide depth behind Khalif Barnes, assuming that he is re-signed.

Rd 5(154): Jeremy Perry - OG - Oregon St. - 6'2" 338 Lbs 5.38/40

Has yet to return from a broken leg and knee injury suffered last season. His health status will cause him to fall in the draft, otherwise he is a Rd 3 selection at worst.

Rd 6(186): Sherrod Martin - FS/CB - Troy - 6'1" 193 Lbs 4.46/40

Jags like their CBs big and Martin fills the bill. He can also play Safety if that is where the need is in the secondary.

I like that scenario also, only considering the shape of the OL overall I would be a little concerned about waiting til round 4 to pick an OT/OG. I'd maybe swap those two picks and go with a lighter caliber DT. I still don't think there is any real proof that interior DL drafted in later rounds are necessarily any weaker than players drafted in higher rounds past round one

Sorry about the Quentin Moses quip. I obviously meant Groves. Anyway, the key to a successful pass rush is a wave of pressure on every play. Having three quality pass rushers obviously makes sense from a depth persepective as well as a rotation persepective.

How many times have we seen that depth is what saves the team when a player goes down or is slightly dinged?

Also consider a situation where all three pass rushers are on the field at the same time?

The Jags lack depth at DE. Finding that third DE could be the difference in elevating the play of the entire defense. To me it is a priority that has been shelved far too long.

Your concern with the Jaguars pass rush, or lack thereof, is admirable.

However, where in the bloody hell are they all going to line up? Is Orakpo going to line up as Tackle on certain situations with Groves and Harvey? Or are you dismissing Groves as our starter and plugging in Brian? Tell me.

I like Orakpo but I don't like seeing Groves benched.

Posting strictly from a want of knowledge on the '09 Draft and in response to the '09 Mock provided by WalterFootball.com...

As high as defensive tackle could be on the draft need for the Colts before '09, I consider offensive tackle the biggest need on the team. Ryan Diem is declining as a player. On the left side, the Colts have good depth with Charlie Johnson and Tony Ugoh as a starter. In the interior, rookies Mike Pollack and Jamey Richard will start their third consecutive game on Sunday against the Packers with Lilja backing them up. I expect Steve Justice to take over the starting spot from Jeff Saturday after this season. This should equal a well-stocked, young offensive line for the years to come.

What we have to remember is that the entire Colts' defense is built to play with a lead. Until that happens, they are a vulnerable bend-but-don't-break defense. However, if the Colts are up by two posessions, they rarely surrender the lead and Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney immediately become factors. The Colts' linebackers subsequently play better as a result. The Colts have played with a lead only once this year, and it came last week against Baltimore. The best defense in Indianapolis is, indeed, the offense. No matter the escelation of a need for a run stuffer, I wouldn't be surprised if the Colts make wide receiver (Marvin Harrison's age) and/or offensive tackle a priority heading into 2009.

I can see how Michael Johnson falls a bit because he has not been as productive in terms of stats as one might think he should be. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Johnson falls into the 20s.

That mock has Selvie going before Orakpo Greg Hardy [i]and[/i] Michael Johnson. While I can understand the Hardy drop due to his lackluster effort, I don't know that Johnson will fall to #19. But as Stigma says, it ain't my website, so the guy can write what he wants.

Yeah Stig, Orakpo is going to be a real high pick...ESPECIALLY if he puts up those numbers that everyone expects him to put up in the off-season.

Shawn Merriman type player. He can put his hand on the ground or he can play up...just pins his ears back and gets to the QB.

Can't see him dropping past 15 under any scenario. A 3-4 or hybrid team will snatch him up with the quickness.

6'4", 260, will run in the 4.6 range (or better if he gets his 40-tech better), great first step, natural pass rusher, can play up or down, great strength.

Definitely a top rated player.

Would love for the Jags to get him, but it doesn't seem possible in terms of potential draft position (we are 3-3 right now, but we are going to win a bunch of our upcoming games...they are cupcakes).

Duke Robinson train...woop woop.

Another pass rusher, George Selvie will probably be an edge rusher at the next level. He could be a Gaines Adams like DE, but he has a real hard time keeping weight on. He is best at or around 245-250. Probably better off as a 34 or hybrid DE.
