Here is a tidbit from TFY...

OT Eugene Monroe-- Monroe's play thus far three games into the season has been uninspired. This is a surprise to many in the scouting community. Sources told the TFY Draft Preview that Monroe put in an off-season of hard work for the first time ever prior to his senior campaign. Monroe- who previously skated by on natural talent, saw how early his former college teammate Branden Albert was selected in last April's draft and has been mentored by Jeremy Zuttah, the third round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now starting for the team. As one source told us, "the light has gone on for Monroe and he realizes how he must prepare in the off season".

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?
opjagfan91 (9/17/2008)

Alfie (9/17/2008)
Maybe you've got to be a Florida fan to think Drew Miller will be a starter in the NFL.

He was anything but impressive.
He did look great against Thomas Williams in the Oklahoma. *sarcasm*
Always looking at the bright side of life, I see.

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?
Alfie (9/17/2008)
Maybe you've got to be a Florida fan to think Drew Miller will be a starter in the NFL.

He was anything but impressive.
He did look great against Thomas Williams in the Oklahoma. *sarcasm*

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?

Maybe you've got to be a Florida fan to think Drew Miller will be a starter in the NFL.

He was anything but impressive.

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?
Firesky (9/13/2008)
1) OLT - barnes is gone and we've been talking about an upgrade for a while now.

2) DT - Big John is almost 30 and Meir is in his 9th season, we need to inject some quality youth into the position that was once our strongpoint on the D!

3) OG - Mo Williams is almost 30 and with season ending injuries to both starting G's you can't not take a quality guy for training and depth here just in case they're not the same players (heres hoping they come out ok!)

4) OC - Meester just had a significant injury and is not exactly a youngun anymore. Meester is what takes this line from good to great when he plays! we need to find his replacement that can do what he does. a 4th rounder is a good round to find a quality C and develop him since Meester still has plenty left in the tank. and we can always put him at G if Drew Miller becomes the answer.

5) QB - Garrard is 30 and Lemon was never meant to be a starter at any point. we borught in Paul Smith (I like him!!) but I heard he's been unimpressive so we should get a quality developmental guy in round 5 that can learn under Garrard, Koetter, and Shula for a few years before taking the reigns. Booty went in round 5 last year so hey if we could have developed booty that would be awesome! this is a good round for a developmental guy.

6) OT - I really hope Collier gets better and honestly I think he's better than Barnes! earlier in the year before the ravens signed Willie Anderson I was all for packaging Barnes and some low rounders for Terrell Suggs. If Collier can't play :( than another OT is a neccessity here! but even if he can play again I think drafting another one here can't hurt!!

other considerations would be a SS at some point in the draft... or maybe a CB.
4) OC -

I think we will find that Drew Miller IS the answer!

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?

At this very minute...my hat gets tossed into the Duke Robinson ring, as, no tackles have emerged through a few weeks that would fall where I expect us to pick.

Oher, Monroe, and Andre Smith are all very nice prospects, but unless the Jags really tank this season through the next 14 games, I don't think we have a shot at them. I'm really starting to agree more with him and think the pecking order might go more like:
RD 1 OLT

RD 2 C

RD 3 DT

RD 4 OLT

RD 5 WR

RD 6 DT
Meredith has looked pretty good against Georgia. I think he could be a player that will be available at the end of Rd 1.
I think that Charles Spencer could cause the Jags to look to a position other than C in Rd 2.
I would love to get a big DT or DE in Rd 2.
BTW, I still think that Khalif Barnes is re-signed, but that does not negate the fact that the Jags need quality depth at the OLT position.
Aren't some people also saying Meredith can play guard in the NFL?

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?
jones&24 (9/8/2008)

zachthejag (9/7/2008)
TEBOW
Fixed again
Heisman....I think a hog of yours finished second.....again.

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?
opjagfan91 (9/13/2008)

Stigma (9/13/2008)

The Lord of Orange (9/11/2008)
Stigma's top pick Meredith comes back from a 2 game suspension this week so everybody can start to see what he looks like. Since the Jags have plenty of options at OC, then drafting an OLT who can be the swing OT and perhaps play some OG, solidifies the depth along the OLine.
If Charles Spencer does not work out, then you draft a C that can play OG in addition to draftng an OLT.

RE: So who should we look at with the number 1 pick?
Stigma (9/13/2008)

The Lord of Orange (9/11/2008)
Stigma's top pick Meredith comes back from a 2 game suspension this week so everybody can start to see what he looks like.
