It's like this....too many new coaches/ regimes want to put their OWN stamp on the team/ rebuilding process. They often do this by picking "their" QB early in their first draft, often with their first pick.

Look no further than our own. Brunell and Garrard were on the roster, this team had many holes to fill, and they still picked Leftwich with their first draft choice, even with a guy like Suggs falling into their laps at pick 7.
I understand the dynamics, but Byron wasn't overdrafted like Flacco. He wasn't a reach where we drafted him. He simply had an unfortunate career with us, mainly in regards to his seemingly constant injuries.
I understand bringing in "your guy". I'm just saying they could have snagged the same guy 10 picks later, AT LEAST.

RE: Mel Kiper
maize n blue (5/4/2008)

The Mad Dog (5/4/2008)

maize n blue (5/4/2008)

The Mad Dog (5/4/2008)

Alfie (5/4/2008)
That's what I've been saying about Flacco. I think it's hilarious when a guy is a fourth-rounder or so after the season, and then in the massive buildup to the draft somehow makes it up to a "great value" at pick #18 overall. Flacco has HORRIBLE mobility in the pocket...I could see him turning out just like Leftwich, though maybe with a little quicker release but not quite as good of decision-making. If you're going to trade up for a QB, why not Brohm? I think Brohm could be better than every QB except Ryan in this draft (that's not out of the question either).

Kiper is simply bashing us because of the value he assigned to Harvey on "his" board.
