I hadn't heard that. With the entire class of receivers in front of you, it wouldn't make much sense either. I could, however, easily see him getting ample playing time in the slot. He did play WR some in college, and is said to be an excellent route runner.[/quote]

I agree he will probably play some slot reciever, and actually was very productive at that position. He does run very good routes, has great hands, and is a matchup nightmare for linebackers and safeties. I didn't like seeing him go to the Titans because I think he has the chance to be an immediate impact player.[/quote]

Yeah he is now a part of the enemy, but I still want him to be successful, just no one else on that sorry team. Hopefully he will be a star but want to leave when his contract runs out and come to a contender like say Jacksonville. :D

Once the Saints moved up to take Ellis ahead of the Bengals, Harvey was the Bengal's guy, period. That has been reported by both NFLN and ESPN as well as numerous websites. Since Ellis was picked at #7 and the Bengals were going to pick Harvey at #9, where else should we have picked him?

Maybe he would have, maybe he wouldn't. Either way, he shouldn't have been a top ten pick. He didn't so good his junior year and had a terrible combine as well. Not saying that he's a bad player, just that he probably wasn't worth a top ten pick. As I said, if he was "the guy", you guys wouldn't have had to move up to take Groves as well. That said, both of them could end up being tremendous players.[/quote]

I don't think that trading up for Q. Groves was so much about the Jags not thinking Harvey was the man. Obviously Harvey was the man as we gave up half our draft for him. Trading up for Q was more about obtaining a 1st round talent at the end of the second round and Pittsburgh was probably going to take him with the next pick.

What made his combine/pro day terrible? His 40? When does a DE run 40 yards straight down the field? :)

Hm.. Was it the 31 reps? Ranking in the top ten among DEs in 3 different combine drills?

What about his measurables?

Didn't do so well in his junior year? Did you see him play? Did you see he continuously take on double teams? How many games did you watch of his? Just so you know, I watched them all. 8.5 sacks through double teams. 11 sacks the year before while sharing time and only starting 5 games.

Do you even kinda know what you're talking about?

Newsflash Jag fans............that's what happens in the draft....everybody has their opinion and some people get paid (Mel Kipper) to give it.

After the crap we went through with the Mario Williams pick, which many of Jag fans blasted......hell everybody did (and I still don't remember a Texan fan starting a "look what the Jags are saying" thread.), I tend to not give a rats *** what anybody thinks.

Exactly. I'm not sure why some consider it that big of a reach at all. No way he was going to get past Carolina at 13, and then when you look at the trade chart and the value we got for him...

Harvey was slotted to anywhere from 11-15. Many had him going to the Bills at 11 and some even had him going to Cincy. It just wasn't that much of a reach. I just hope he has a rookie year as good Mario. ;)

Myself and all other fans who watched the last game for the Jags saw us hit Brady how many times? We watched and waited and saw Brady with all the time make completions. Everyone shouted put some pressure on him and we can win. We didn’t the Giants did and won the Superbowl.

Quarterback Tom Brady was the difference in the Patriots’ win over the Jaguars. Brady completed 26 of 28 passes for 262 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 141.4 passer rating.

Brady was so dominant that the Patriots didn’t punt until the final seconds of the game, when they were in clock-killing mode. Brady was so dominant that the Jaguars didn’t have a pass-defensed.

It was a case of pitch and catch all night, and the Jaguars tried every strategy imaginable to slow down Brady. The Jaguars opened in “nickel,” then switched to a 3-3-5 alignment. After halftime, they played 4-3 “Cover Two” and “nickel.” Nothing worked.

In addition to Brady’s exceptional passing performance, running back Laurence Maroney added 122 yards rushing, including consecutive runs of 29 and 11 yards that kind of sealed the deal.

“Unfortunately, Tom didn’t slip on the way to work,” Del Rio joked. “Brady was very, very good. We made him be patient. He was very patient; willing to nibble.”

Now day 1 of the draft, I was not to excited with pick number 26. All of a sudden while waiting for Baltimore to make their pick the unexpected happened, a trade. Jacksonville grew a set of B---s. They took my #3 DE pick Derrick Harvey and a GATOR at that. Next came round three as I held the wife off from going out to eat as I waited for our next pick. Tampa Bay was up at pick #52, another trade Jacksonville picks my #7 DE choice Quentin Groves.

I think Jack and the crew did a great job and now I can’t wait to see these DEs in action. Glad to be a season ticket holder for the 2008 Superbowl Jaguars who ARE the contenders for the Superbowl.
