Sharon and Broussard both suck. 4 catches between them last season, thats on a team with a poor WR core. I like Porter, I know he will do good things here, and Williams isnt bad as a 2 or 3. Jones would rather get high and make circus catches and Northcutt is a 3 at best. None of these are the long term answer.

you forgot mike walker and troy williamson. like i said, you don't watch football. and as much of a gator homer as i am, i am not saying that we should have sat in the third waiting for andre caldwell. there is not a reciever in this draft that demanded selection.

I watch plenty of football, enough to know that Broussard and Sharon are garbage. Mike Walker would not have been drafted in the 3rd round if the Jags had known he would not have been ready to play last season.

How much is enough? You know, I'm getting rather sick of all the Reggie bashing going on as of late. The man had 10 TDs last year. That's absolutely fantastic, and yes it is "enough." The Jaguars clearly have confidence in Reggie to have let Wilford go without addressing WR in day one. He's going to start yet again as the #2 WR, and this year I'm expecting a big season out of him.

My intent is not to bash Williams, I like him and I hope he continues to improve this season. I just dont see him becoming a legit number 1 in the future.

Williamsons drops had more to do with who was throwing him the ball? thats hilarious. Tarvaris Jackson threw some poor passes but Williamson got his hands on too many of them, if a receiver can get his hands on the ball, then he should make the catch.

I don't see any problem at WR for the Jaguars. If anything, they have too many as it is. I see them keeping five guys, and four of them already have virtual locks on the roster. The fifth spot is a toss-up in my book between Williamson, Matt Jones and Broussard, and I'm expecting Williamson to win the spot.

I don't see many surprises this offseason at WR. The big question mark is how good is Mike Walker. Without Walker you'd have: 1: Jerry Porter; 2: Reggie Williams, and 3: Dennis Northcutt. But Walker has the potential to supplant any one of them pushing the rest of the receivers down a notch. Out of the gate this season I'm expecting Walker to supplant Northcutt as the #3 with Dennis sticking around as the 4th WR. Eventually, given his amazing speed, Walker is sure to move up the charts.

So, to start the season at WR, I see us looking at...

Jerry Porter
Reggie Williams
Mike Walker
Dennis Northcutt
Troy Williamson

The 5th spot is for a speedster to stretch the field, and to sneak in unexpectedly for the big plays downfield. Williamson needs to prove his hands are reliable (I think his drops had more to do with who was throwing him the ball) in order to beat out Matt Jones and Broussard for the spot. At this point I'm expecting Broussard to land on the Practice Squad.

riiiight... and I'll ask this... if those WR's in the draft are that "explosive"... WHY ARE THEY STILL THERE?!

any GOOD WR would have been taken in round 1... how many were there? That's right... NONE!
first time in over a decade and not a single one!

so the Jags won't take one in the 3rd? GASP! We did last year and he looked good in preseason until they put him on IR to 1. protect him from being cut and 2. let his surgery heal up.

our WR core right now: Porter, Williams, (not including Matt...he could be traded), Northcutt, Walker, Williamson (speedster, maybe with training he can focus more on catching the ball), Broussard...

we spent 10 million in guarentees for jerry porter. was a rookie really going to be more help than him??? i mean really ask yourself. was the rookie going to be any more experienced in our system than these guys?

both harvey and groes are going to be first day on the job impact players.

I am hoping everything will be okay. But 4 of the recievers are either little known or not familiar with our offense. Problem being, wasn't impressed with wr's. You can only take what is there. if you put sharon and broussard in the same boat it justifies the sillieness of this post. you obviously have not been watching this offseason. jerry porter and troy williamson are playmakers. who were you going to draft in the third round that was going to be that much better than them?

The offensive playmakers in this draft come from the RB position, not the WR position. The WRs in this class aren't rated that high.

NE is a pass offense, the Jags are a balance offense.

I agree about the RB's, the Jags are set there. WR is a different story though. I know Porter will make a HUGE difference, but the rest of the WR's are nothing to mortgage the future over. Other then Porter the Jags WR core had 128 total receptions last season (Northcutt 44, Williams 38, Jones 24, Williamson 18, Broussard 4, and Walker 0). Wes Welker had 112 alone !

our RBs are great. and we essentially have two new WRs in Jerry Porter and Mike Walker.

there really isnt a whole lot of need there imo.
