The reason some people are not sure about the move is that Harvey is not as elite as some would tend to believe. Just because the F.O. thinks he is, doesn't mean it is fact. I believe Cincy would have taken LB Rivers over Harvey. Rivers was rated in the top ten and Harvey was around 13 or #14. A lot of people forget Cinci signed DE Antwan Odom (one of the guys the Jags considered) and some other DE in Free Agency. Harvey probably would have fell to #13 Carolina or further.[/quote]

At this point in time the Vikings need a DE very badly, but if the trade for Allen goes through this pick will belong to KC. If that does happen Merling will still probably be the pick, with a chance of either a CB or WR.
