Board Software Suggestion

Why oh why can we not get some board software that actually works? vBulletin is used on a few other sites that I frequent, and has higher traffic numbers. So far I have yet to see any major down time and things "just work". Just the little things such as avatars, signatures, the ability to post images and the ability to embed videos from youtube, etc.

I compared the licensing fees, and it would actually cost less to use.

Got a friend who's been trying to register with the board for a while now - signed up with a couple of accounts a day or so ago (the second after the first failed to work) and still hasn't received an authentication mail. Is this normal?

i cant put an avatar in, when i click my controls i can edit my signature but not my avatar..i get the error saying i dont have the permissions..can someone fix that please?

Having trouble accessing Jaguars.com's message board

My operating system is a Microsoft Vista and for some reason when I use Internet Explorer 7, I can't access this message board (http://mb.jaguars.com). I keep getting a Domain Name Server (DNS) error. I'm not having any connection issues since I can access just about every website out there. For some reason, this message board is the only one I can't access.

Need some help from you techies. :)

BTW, I'm using AOL 9.0 right now to access this site and post this message, but can't access by using my IE.

Any suggestions?

I have a cool new Avatar I want to put on my profile, and I guess Webmaster has the feature to change them blocked due to draft, and influx of traffic....does anyone know how to get ahold of webmaster to see if they are going to reopen this feature??? I would normaly not post this here but I am getting no answer anywhere else!

I'm unable to get a clear radio signal for the weekly show as I drive home from work and end up downloading the next day to listen at work. But a podcast would be a whole lot more convenient.

Not sure what is involved, but seems like it wouldn't take much since you already have the shows archived in MP3 format. Any chance?

Hey guys sorry for the dumb question...but how the heck do you edit your profile info? Avatar, signature and so forth. When I click on my member profile I don't have the option to modify any settings. I haven't posted much before but wanted to get a little more involved with the Jag forum. New COC Effective at Midnight

As a result of organizational concerns, and your private and public complaints regarding the content on this board, we have rewritten the Code of Conduct (COC).

The new COC clearly defines what is not allowed on the board and is additionally very clear on the actions that will be taken should one decide to not follow those rules. In addition to the guidance it gives the posters, it also provides a set of guidelines which we expect the moderators to enforce in a fair and consistent manner.

Our intent is not to increase the moderators work load, but rather to create an atmosphere where posters exercise self-control, agree to disagree, and not act like spoiled children. Some of you may think that there is no way we can enforce these guidelines. You may say to yourself, “The moderators aren’t here enough to enforce it and will soon tire of spending all their time with warnings and banning people.” If those are your thoughts pay particular attention to item #3 in the “General” section:

"The Jaguars reserve the right to limit the accessibility of the message boards, to individuals and the entire message board community, for any period of time, as they see fit. "

If conduct on the board spirals out of control with the new COC we will put the board in a “read only” state for a period of time. Should we have to do this multiple times, each successive “read only” period will be longer than the last. Please understand this is not something we want to do, nor is it a threat. It is just the way the board will be run starting at midnight tonight.

Also please understand that these steps are being taken in lieu of shutting down the board, a step several other teams have taken. There have been several meetings over the past year to discuss that and these steps are being taken to ensure that does not become a reality.

Please take the time to read the new COC by clicking on the “Code of Conduct” link on the top right of this page. It goes into effect at midnight and pleading ignorance to its contents is not an acceptable excuse for violating it’s guidelines.
