I think the patchwork OL looked pretty good today.  Opened some nice holes, kept them off of DG pretty well.

Something to build on.

I'm looking forward to a lineup of Barnes/Nwanari/Meester/Norman/Pashos after the bye week.

well, except that 1 blown call where the DT came through clean near the end of the second quarter...

other than that, they did exceptionally well.

What about the obvious holding penalty on Barnes that wipes out a catch near the goal line? If we had lost that game, I would be really mad at #69 right now.

Who was supposed to block the defensive tackle on that play?

Well first, I don't think it was a DT that beat Barnes on that holding play. I think it was a DE. Second, Barnes is a starter, not a depth guy playing for someone injured.

David: even tho they already lost
Naddy: i need chargers to get a pick 6 to help out my playoff challenge

Yeah it looked to me like a defensive end was supposed to be blocked. I wondered, "Where is Barnes?" when I saw nobody was standing left of Garrard. I still think he's a good left tackle, but Barnes is nowhere near a certain other guy who played that spot before him . . .

Really? Because the way I saw it, if Barnes doesn't hold blatantly on that play, Garrard gets planted from behind before he gets a chance to throw that ball.

The sack was by Kenny Peterson, a DT. He came from the middle of the line. Our Left Guard missed an assignment, blocked to the right instead of the man right in front of him.

I described the play in more detail here...
