| This is not necessarily draft eligible guys, but guys that have caught my eye...
Chase Daniel, QB, Mizzou- I really didn't think he was this good. I didn't get to watch a lot of their games last year and I sort of lumped him in with Todd Reesing. I watched the Nebraska game and he jumped off the screen at me. He's so accurate, smart and a competitor. I can't wait for them to play Texas in a few weeks and then hopefully Oklahoma in the BIg 12 championship.
Dekoda Watson, LB, FSU- Here's a guy that is a physical freak. He ran a sub 4.5 in off season workouts this year. He's great in coverage and blitzing. Not trying to be a homer here, but he's going to be one heck of an OLB at the next level.
Joe Joseph, DT, The U- He made countless plays last Saturday against the Noles and the guy is a monster. He's listed at 6-3, 300, but he looks bigger. The was one play where he was getting blocked out of the way and he grabbed Ponder's jersey and pulled him down with one arm.
George Selvie, DE, USF- He's got the look of a Gaines Adams. Usually when a player is that talented, they have a tough time keeping the motor up. Selvie has a motor. He plays all out on every play. He's battling an ankle thing right now I believe so his stats might be skewed but I watched him early in the year and he really impressed me.
Javon Ringer, RB, MSU- Wow. This kid can run the football. It's amazing he wasn't getting all the carries last year. His legs are so strong that I've yet to see him off balance once this year. He runs hard which is something I think people overlook sometimes.
Janoris Jenkins, CB, UF- True freshman is now starting for Florida. He's solidified the corner spot opposite Haden. Some people think he lacked the speed to compete at a high level in the College game but he shut up his critics.
Brandon Tate, WR, UNC- This kid continues to impress. He's leading that offense right. He's their go-to guy and he's making big catches in big games and big situations.
LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt- Believe it or not, when they played USF on Thursday, it was the first time I was able to watch him play. He makes real good hard cuts but needs to run a little harder up the middle. He's a little to fancy right now and he has the body to run it up inside. Regardless, I was still impressed with the way he runs the ball.
A.J. Green, WR, UGA- Another true freshman that has quickly become the best receiver on the Bulldogs roster. He has a great combo of size and speed and has a good set of hands. It'll be interesting to see who becomes the better receiver, A.J. Green or Julio Jones.
Rodney Stewart, RB, Colorado- He reminds me of Darren Sproles. He's a little guy that makes good cuts and runs tougher than you would think for someone of his size. I haven't seen him break a long run yet though. His long for the season is 19 yards but he's averaging 5.1 a pop.
Michael Smith, RB, Arkansas- He reminds me of Cadillac. He's a 200 pound guy that runs like a fast 230 pound guy. He played a heck of a game against Florida last week.

| Good list. I'd like to add Tony Carter CB - FSU. The guy is athletic and can flat out play. Those two INT's vs. UM last week were two of the most athletic INT's I've seen in the college level in a while. He is a great leader, and he could potentially be a better version of Scott Starks. I think he'll make a team very happy as a nickle corner.

| | Ditto to what KI said. Great list. I can't really pick out any player I'm not impressed with. I agree with KI on TC as well. I think it'll take him 1-3 years to get used to the NFL game, but I think he can do it. He could definitely play nickel.

| How about the UM KR/PR. I can't recall his first name but his last name is Benjamin. That kid can flat out fly, and he plays WR. I really don't know much about him, but he sure was a phenomenal returner against FSU.

In case anyone needs a clue.
Pick a number between 1 and 100, Add 52, Now subtract 7, Add 4, Subtract 13, Subtract the number you started with, Divide by 2, Add 7, Multiply by 4 then subtract 9 ... Viola there's your clue.

I thought I put him in my list. But anyway, the kid is a stud. He's going to be the next in the long line of great Miami linebackers. He played a hell of a game against both instate rivals this year.

| Charles Scott has really impressed me. Looks like a next level back. It seems everytime he touches the ball its either to the house or at a minimum 8 yards down field. Puts LSU in a position for a first down every time.
James Casey, Rice. Chris Cooley type TE. More athletic.
Jacquizz Rodgers, Oregon State. Reminds me of Darren Sproles. Great career ahead of him.
Chase Daniel, Mizzou = Best player in the country right now. Jeremy Maclin = best wide out in the country.
Julio Jones is a freak and next great one at WR...if you didn't know already. Guy already has a pro level body. Seen him person...beast.
Zac Robinson is really good and no one talks about him. If Max Hall keeps it up he'll be getting some Heisman hype.
Brandon Tate, UNC has been amazing.
Darius Butler, UCONN = future first rounder...you heard it here first. Chris Gamble type.
Tyrell Fenroy has been a favorite of mine since he was a freshman. A little undersized but has always been productive. He'll be drafted.
Donald Brown has been just a beast!
David Johnson...runs that offense as well as Paul Smith.
Ryan Matthews, Fresno...always impresses me when he runs. Only a soph.
Andre Smith has become the best linemen in the country.
Watch out for Herm Johnson. Just a massive human being. Dominant.
Michael Johnson of GT hasn't impressed me. Suffering from Calais Campbell syndrome. Playing too much and he isn't used to it.
Alphonso Smith = award winner by years end. |
