Watched him against SMU...great college WR, maybe a good NFL slot guy...didn't see explosion. Mid-round pick at best, methinks. Some things to like though...route running and hands.

Jagwired'd (8/7/2008)
Jarrett Dillard.

Wide Receiver
5' 11" 168 lbs.
Speed: 4.38 (est)
Rice University
Senior

91 catches for 1,247 yards and 21 touchdowns... AT RICE.

One of the most high octane offenses in college football. James Casey is their best pro potential player. Kid looks like another Chris Cooley.

Jarrett Dillard is what makes that offense "High octane". But after seeing him again, he would be a good Dennis Northcutt-type guy.

Jagwired'd is to moderators as a wrongfully accused killer is to the court of law.

I show off my anger after Jags losses. I can't help myself.

The offensive scheme is what makes it high octane. Chase Clement is the orchestrator. His ability to run is what keeps the D honest which gives the wide outs time and looks. Dillard is a typical small WR from a big time college...has trouble against physical DBs because you just don't face good ones too often. Dillard is a good player, reminds me of Troy Edwards, and Edwards made himself some money as a pro. I just don't think he'll be drafted very high unless he shows during the All-Star Games (Bowl Game if Rice gets to one) that he can play against his peers at an elite level...like Greg Jennings did (although Jennings was much more "pro ready" coming out.

I'd take a risk on him, but I don't think it'd be too early. Probably like...3rd round.

Again, that could all change when I see him really play someone that he'd see in the NFL.

After the draft, this place just gets drab, then during the season its a jungle with all of the ridiculous banter. I'm typically just an off-season guy around these parts.

The final cuts and Richard Collier got me back here.
