Houston Texans, 7-9? Last place??

Wow.

I strongly disagree with that one.

I don't know why it's so improbable for Houston to go 7-9. They still don't have much of a running game, their run defense is horrible, and their secondary sucks. I don't see what's so special about Houston.

Mario Williams is the current flavor of the NFL right now.  He's performed better than Bush so he's getting talked right up.  He is going to make that team a powerhouse... no matter if the real talent on that team is Mario, Andre Johnson and DeMeco and some other smatter here and there.

There's no question that Mario Williams has differential ability.    And he demonstrated that ability more frequently last season.     One major question I have with the Texans going into this season is whether Mario Williams will bring his "  A "  game regularly or whether he will revert back to his less than stellar effort ways.

Though the Texans have a handful of very talented players,   including the ones you mentioned and Amobi Okoye,    the overall roster doesn't appear to be on the level with the other teams in the division.    Houston is more top heavy than Tennessee but the latter looks like a deeper team.

On Offense,   though Andre Johnson is a big time WR and Owen Daniels has the makings of a quality receiving TE,    they don't appear to have the type of fire power to seriously contend with the Jaguars and Colts.     The Texans are going in the right direction.    If they were in any other Division in the AFC,   I would have put them at 8-8 or 9-7.     They might even be good enough to win the AFC North,   if they were in that division.    In the AFC South though,   the Texans look at least a year away from challenging the cream of the crop Jags and Colts.
