In my eyes, I don't really think he brings anything different to this team that we already have.

Slot Receiver? Although Dennis would be a decent option there, I would probably want Mike Walker in the slot. Mike is younger, bigger, and faster with better hands(although he didn't show it in the preseason). He's also on the incline of his career.

Punt Returner? Last year, he was signed mainly because he could return punts in addition to playing WR. This year, he would probably be my third option at PR behind Witherspoon and MJD. Both of these guys have shown a lot more explosive qualities as well as being able to safely field punts.

If this were my team, I'd probably cut Northcutt and keep Porter, Williams, Walker, Jones, and Williamson.

So Walker is better than Northcutt now?

If he made that catch in NE he'd be the greatest receiver on the team. Yes I know about the history but he made plenty of clutch plays last year....

If Walker was not on IR, do you think Northcutt would be in position to make those "plenty" of clutch plays?

He brings speed, quickness, experence, route running and special teams ability. He was one of our most consistant pass catchers last year and he is just about the only WR on the team with no question marks. He isnt Randy Moss, but you know what you are going to get.

Porter has his duff hammy.

Reggie has never caught more than 40 balls.

Walker is basicly a rookie and a rookie who has had a case of the dropsies lately.

Jones has only just decided he fancies playing a bit of ball.

and Williamson is still one big '?'.

For those reasons Northcutt stays. If some of the other guys get it together he will probably be the odd man out next year.

I guess that is why it's not your team. You probably also think the team should cut Cleo Lemon, Khalif Barnes and Brian Williams too, right?

If Charles Sharon made the team, do you think Northcutt would be in position to make those "plenty" of clutch plays? (WE DON'T KNOW)

It's so funny how many people want to cut him based on that drop (yes, i know his cle reputation)

Northcutt was brought in to be a slot reciever. He has not yet had that chance. Let's see how he does in his intended role before we throw him under the bus.
