I was looking for an article on if Fudge was finishing his degree at UNF or back at Clemson and I found this article with a quote from Brian Williams. No matter what happens, no one can argue that he is showing a great attitude. Some players these days would be crying in the media and good for B-Dub for doing it the right way.

"Whatever it takes," said Williams, who played safety his first two years at North Carolina State. "The main object is to win ball games. You know who we got to beat to do what we want to do. However it works out I'm ready for it."

Great find.

Williams is going to be a solid contributor (like always) at whatever position Jack thinks best suits him.

I'm just wondering why Accuscore is paying Fargin to make faces at me...

Agreed. Brian Williams is doing great. He will more than likely have a starting job somewhere on the defense come opening day, as per Jack Del Rio. He's going to do a great job whether he plays corner or safety.

My only concern about this is - is the secondary actually any better off than it was last year with these moves? Florence might be a downgrade from B Williams at CB & B Williams might be a downgrade from Sammy Knight at SS. and TBH, whoever's left at nickel might not even be as good as Cousin (yeah, that would be tough to do, as Cousin had a bad year, but Trae Williams is unproven, Starks IMO hasn't shown that he's any better than Cousin - might be "as" good...

It also begs the question - if moving B Williams to SS was the intent, then why not go after a CB like Asante Samuel? He'd actually have been an UPgrade from B Williams, we don't know that Florence even will be. Just because you paid him more than B Williams doesn't mean he's better.

Now I wish we would have made that deal for Sheppard. At least with him at CB & Florence at nickel we KNOW that would have been a definite upgrade for the secondary as a whole.

What we are doing now, is possibly merely playing the shell game.

TMD's Jags draft: as of 3/ 11/08

1)DE Calais Campbell 2) RB Ray Rice 3a) DT Frank Okam 3b) trade to Mia for DE Jason Taylor 4) C Cody Wallace 5a) CB Terrence Wheatley 5b) WR William Franklin 5c) SS Caleb Campbell

Follow this & we'll be playing in Tampa next February

I still see it as:

Rashean Mathis
Brian Williams
Drayton Florence
Scott Starks
Trae Williams

on the depth chart as of today.. who knows how that'll change in camp.

Keeping Gerald Sensabaugh at SS is the best thing to do to improve our secondary.

Idle speculation.. even if Drayton takes over the 2nd CB spot.. I still see Brian Williams as the nickel back.. got to have the best players on the field. Salary numbers don't matter on the field.

We're going to play a lot of nickel this season.. and it just makes sense to have the best cover guys on the field as many times as you can get them together.

Sure, let's overpay for Asante Samuel and trade next year's 1st round pick for Lito Shepherd and Jason Taylor and anyone else we can find, too, while we're at it.  Can't have everything.  Make do the best we can with what we have.  I don't see BW being a downgrade over Sammy Knight, who was servicable at best outside of a few interceptions made via veteran savy rather than athletic skill.  Our scheme is not predicated on shut down man cover corners.  Florence will be just fine.  And let's not forget Sensebaugh in this whole equation.  If his shoulders are healed he might still wind up as our SS and then we'd ahve three starting corners on the field for nickel.

I agree that we can't count out Sensabaugh yet.  I mean if the coaching staff didn't believe in him we would still have Deon "my hands are made out of concrete" Grant in our secondary.  I personally think he will win the starting job at SS.  I honestly think that this organization fell in love with Drayton because he was so productive from the nickel spot.

But it's too early to tell.

Huh?  You do know he signed for like 30 million two years ago, right?
