That's what I've been saying about Flacco. If they were so in love with Flacco, they could have signed Leftwich off the street. It's basically the same guy.

Maybe they feel Flacco is more coachable than the headstrong, arrogant Leftwich.

Maybe they don't know their arse from a hole in the ground.  Maybe they have ZERO ability as an organization to judge the NFL readiness of a QB.  I'd like to know exactly what they saw in Flacco that sets him apart from what they already have in Boller.  Oh yeah, he's tall.

And you have a legit point there as well.

The current Ravens FO has proven that they pretty much suck at drafting/ developing QB's. They have had their best success with veterans acquired via trades/ FA over their current regime. (Dilfer/ McNair)

TMD's Jags draft: as of 3/ 11/08

1)DE Calais Campbell 2) RB Ray Rice 3a) DT Frank Okam 3b) trade to Mia for DE Jason Taylor 4) C Cody Wallace 5a) CB Terrence Wheatley 5b) WR William Franklin 5c) SS Caleb Campbell

With all the problems that team has and all the holes to fill now and in the very near future, you'd think that another position would carry a higher value for them.  Especially considering they have a young QB on the roster with all the physical talent in the world.  They've got a new coach with a new system.  I just don't get it.

It's like this....too many new coaches/ regimes want to put their OWN stamp on the team/ rebuilding process. They often do this by picking "their" QB early in their first draft, often with their first pick.

Look no further than our own. Brunell and Garrard were on the  roster, this team had many holes to fill, and they still picked Leftwich with their first draft choice, even with a guy like Suggs falling into their laps at pick 7.

I understand the dynamics, but Byron wasn't overdrafted like Flacco.  He wasn't a reach where we drafted him.  He simply had an unfortunate career with us, mainly in regards to his seemingly constant injuries.

I understand bringing in "your guy".  I'm just saying they could have snagged the same guy 10 picks later, AT LEAST.

"I take message board rumors and run with them!!!"

Why do people think Leftwich wasn't coachable? Because they tinkered with his mechanics and it screwed him all up for 2 games so they stopped?

Del Rio was right!
