| Though it will take several years for the results from the 2008 NFL Draft to be known, on paper the Jags, Chiefs, and Dolphins drafts impressed me the most. All 3 teams got great value for their draft resources. The Jags get a slight edge over the other two teams because of the ultra one sided trade with the Ravens that resulted in Jacksonville getting a top 5 or 6 player.

| | Come on, D6. The Chief's draft far outshines our draft and was clearly better than Miami's. Jags: B- Dolphins: B Chiefs: A+ The Chiefs got arguably the best player in the draft in Glenn Dorsey, and a total of like 6 guys that were rated as 3rd rounders or higher. Kasas City's strategy of dumping Jared Allen's huge salary and acquiring extra draft picks to fill other hig needs worked perfectly. IMO, they should have taken a QB, but that was about the only fault.

| | jagabc6893, for the most part, my criteria in rating a team's draft in the days following the draft is how well they use their draft pick resources. Though the Chiefs added more to their roster in this draft than the Jaguars, the Jaguars appear to have maximized their draft resources a little better. Though Chad Henne appeared to be a good option for the Chiefs with pick # 35 in the upper part of Round 2, it's difficult to question the Brandon Flowers selection. Flowers is a great fit in the Tampa Two Defensive system that the Chiefs use and he fills a substantial need in his own right. The Chiefs certainly have a major needs QB, both in the present and the future. Having said that, I give them credit for not forcing/ reaching on their draft board. The only question mark I have for the Chiefs draft is the Brad Cottom selection with pick # 76 in Round 3. The question mark is not about Cottom as a long term receiving prospect. It's because Tony Gonzalez probably has another 2 or 3 years of being a very effective TE. Though the Chiefs need a blocking TE to replace the aging Jason Dunn, Cottom's body type appears much better suited for the passing game than the running game. If that proves to be the case, barring an injury to Gonzalez, the Chiefs might not get much out of Cottom until his 3rd or 4th season. Soon after, he will be scheduled to become an UFA. Otherwise, the Chiefs draft could easily produce an excellent combination of short term and long term contributions.

| | the chiefs had a good draft but they should have had a good draft. they had a top 5 pick. a top 15 pick. and then four more picks that were 3rd round or better. give any one of us their draft picks and we would have done well also.

The Jags needed end help and got it. In my eyes they are both very good based onm team need.

I think the selection of Cottam was more to replace the departed Kris Wilson than Tony Gonzalez. In addition, if Cottam proves to be a valuable piece for the Chiefs, they could move Gonzalez to another team and hoard even MORE picks.
I think the Chiefs might be looking for a QB next year...the team's likely not going to contend this year; it's not necessary to acquire all the pieces in a rebuild in the first year. Matthew Stafford, Chase Daniel, or Tim Tebow could be Chiefs targets next year.
What were your thoughts on the Lions' draft, D6?
