I think this would be the best move. Unless a guy like Merling falls, I just dont like our options. and frankkly I dont think there is a huge dropoff in talent from 26 to say 40-45.

the only drop is in potential

While true in theory, not always true. Lots of later round players end up being the best players in the league. Tom Brady - 6th rounder. Jared Allen - 4th rounder. Terrell Davis - 6th rounder. Just off the top of my head.

Maybe we can package the towel boy for the other 15 points

what's hilarious is Colts fans talking about not enjoying ref-tainted victories.

sip in the irony of that folks

I would love to have them trade down as some of you say for two of the falcons 2nd round picks, But our 1st wouldn't be enough to do it. Our 1st #26 is worth 700 pts on the trade chart. The falcons 2nds are: 34- 560pts, 37- 530pts, and 48- 420pts.

So the only way to come close to getting Two 2nds and keep our current 2nd rounder would be to trade #26- 700 pts and #71(3rd from buffalo) 235pts = 935pts for atlantas 2nds #37 530pts and #48 420pts = 950 pts

that would get us within 15 points of the trade

And if they insist on the 15 points why not throw in #18.. Sounds like fair market value to me...

To bad Mike Smith is the Falcons coach, he would have #18 worth -15pts and then we would have to put up 30 pts to get the deal done.

Perhaps replace the word "potential" with "expectations"

Right, but if a team like Atlanta really wants a qb at the end of the first, and the Jags are the only potential suitor....sometimes the chart is thrown out the window.

You can bury that draft chart.  It'll be dead after Sunday.

I think with our roster there may not be too much room for a lot of darfted players.  My thinking is that it may be better to trade away some of our picks to either move up to grab more of a sure thing upgrade of a 1st rounder, or to pick up a more proven veteran (Taylor??/Peppers??).

I hope we do this and then draft Trevor Laws.

If we trade our first this year, I would much rather for it to acquire a future first rounder and maybe a third rounder.

I am not enamoured with this draft, so if the traded our first rounder I would much like to see them go after someone's first rounder next season.
