I dont really know if they can go wrong with him or Chris Long or even a Glenn Dorsey.

This would be the best pick for them IMHO.  Their line is terrible, and Long is a can't miss prospect.  If they take him with the first pick I can see them taking either Henne of Flacco in the 2nd round.  I don't care how much they like Beck, he is definitely not a sure thing.

If they want to see John Beck survive his NFL career until he's 30, they better pick Long.

Doesn't he turn 30 next year?

Jake Long is a can't miss.  Even if he struggles with the speed guys at OLT, he'd be a pro bowler at ORT.  This could just be posturing, though.

Exactly.

(Actually, he turns 27 next year)

I read an article here recently about the approach that Miami should take and I liked the premise behind it.

Essentially what they said was to start negotiations with the top three picks (Long, Long, and Ryan) and see who they can get the best deal with. It makes sense to me especially with respect to how much you have to pay a Number One overall guy. It might be a way for them to cut down on the player cost some.
